Concrete "steps" at the base of a spiral or helix dropshaft, the "third" such helix in the West Kittsondale storm drain, Saint Paul, Minnesota, lit by several dozen candles. The spiral-staircase design is one of several possible methods of creating a major change in stormwater elevation while minimizing erosion to the drain, but may well be unique to Saint Paul. 35mm transparency, 4000dpi digital files available.
